Germany

Regions Of Germany
North-Western
Germany is made up of the states of Lower Saxony
and Schleswig-Hostein, which are home to the
cities of Hamburg and Bremen. The scenery varies
vastly from the undulating plains of north
to the woods of Luneberg Heath in the east
and the hills of the Harz Mountains in the
south. The main cities are Hamburg, Hanover,
Bremen, Lubeck and Kiel.

East
Germany is now emerging from its isolation
during the Cold War. There are numerous castles
and palaces that are set amidst some impressive
scenery. East Germany is home to the capital,
Berlin and also the impressive cities of Leipzig
and Dresden. The scenery varies vastly in the
north there are holiday resorts and flat plains
and then large lakes lead to the ‘chocolate
box beauty’ of the Harz Mountains and
the untamed Zittau range in the south.

Southern
Germany is home to the most visited provinces
of Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemberg. The region
is ascetically beautiful there’s the
Black Forest in the west, the hills in central
Bavaria, the valleys of the Rhine and Danube
and the Alpine scenery in the south. The main
cities to visit are Munich, Augsburg, Wurtzburg,
Heidelberg and Bamberg.
Western
Germany is the most accessible part of Germany,
and this region is a main holiday destination
for British tourists. The most popular places
to visit are the cities of the north, Cologne
(Koln) and Bonn, also the famous valley of
the river Rhine.
