Denmark is traditionally an agricultural
country and nearly three-quarters of its land is
still used for farming and horticulture although
employing only 6 per cent of the workforce.
There has been a marked shift of resources towards
manufacturing, the most important industries being
food processing, metal and electrical engineering,
transport equipment, textiles and clothing, paper,
furniture, glass, IT, biotech and brewing. These
firms are small scale.

Although the standards of design,
styling and craftsmanship are high.
The greatest proportion of the population works
in the service sector.
When moving to Denmark, non-EU nationals
will require a work permit. Rented housing is scarce
and people are advised to try to arrange accommodation
beforehand.
The level of management salaries is appreciably
higher than in the UK but deductions for tax and
social security are higher too.
